The Marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati:

 According to one legend, Manimahesh Lake was created by Lord Shiva after his marriage to Goddess Parvati, who is worshipped as Mata Girija. It is believed that Lord Shiva chose this sacred spot to perform penance.

Lord Shiva's Presence:

 The Gaddi people, who are the tribes of the region, consider Lord Shiva as their deity. It is said that Lord Shiva resides in the Mount Kailash, the highest mountain in the region, for six months. The Gaddis believe that the land of the region is the "Land of Shiva" and themselves as devotees of Shiva.

The Three Lords of the Universe:

 Manimahesh Lake is considered the abode of the three Lords of the universe - Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Brahma. The waterfall seen at Dhancho, which originates from the lake, is believed to be the heaven of Lord Vishnu. The mound overlooking Bharmaur city is considered the heaven of Lord Brahma.

The Tricked Demon:

 There is a legend that tells the story of a demon named Bhasmasur who received a boon from Lord Shiva that anyone he touched would turn into ashes. The demon attempted to touch Lord Shiva himself but failed. Lord Vishnu intervened and killed the demon. The waterfall at Dhancho, where Lord Shiva took shelter, is considered holy due to this legend.

The Divine Reflection:

 It is believed that on rare occasions, the first rays of the sun falling on the Manimahesh peak are reflected in the lake like a saffron tilak. This phenomenon has enhanced the belief in the sanctity of the lake among the Gaddi people.

Manimahesh Yatra:

 The Manimahesh Yatra is an annual pilgrimage that takes place during the month of August or September (according to the Hindu calendar) and coincides with the Krishna Janmashtami festival. Devotees undertake a trek of approximately 13 kilometers from Hadsar village to reach the lake. The journey is considered arduous but spiritually rewarding.

The Trek:

 The trek to Manimahesh Lake is known for its scenic beauty, rugged terrain, and challenging paths. The route passes through picturesque landscapes, lush green meadows, and dense forests. It involves crossing streams, steep ascents, and rocky terrain. The trek is a test of physical endurance and requires proper preparation and acclimatization due to the high altitude.

The Manimahesh Fair:

 During the Manimahesh Yatra, a grand fair is organized near the lake, attracting a large number of devotees and tourists. The fair showcases cultural performances, traditional music, and local handicrafts. Pilgrims take a dip in the holy Manimahesh Lake and offer prayers to Lord Shiva.
